Apps for Social Skill Development
iPads, iPods, laptops, and tablets have become very popular therapy tools for children and adults diagnosed with autism. There are countless applications for these devices that can be used in conjunction with education and therapy practices to best educate these individuals. Jessica Chase, CCC-SLP of Constantly Speaking, compiled a comprehensive list of applications that can be used as aids in social skills therapy and practice. Children or adults on the autism spectrum can use these "apps", each unique in what they address, at school, with a therapist, or at home for social skills therapy in a fun, game-like way. The applications included range from free to $$$, and cover many social skills related topics.
