For The Parents
As a parent, you are your child's best resource for success. You know your child better than anyone, so it is your duty to ensure that your child is receiving the proper intervention, in therapy, at school, and at home. This means that you will wear many hats: advocate, teacher, therapist, and mom/dad. Though some parents report feeling frustrated or exhausted, there are many incredible resources on the internet and in your community to help you and your family with the unique challenges of autism. If you seek external resources, you can find them online through AutismSpeaks, ASHA, Autism Research Institute, The National Autistic Society or by communicating with the professionals on your child's intervention team. As a parent, it is vital that you begin treatment for your child as soon as they display autistic characteristics. Early intervention is the most effective way to tackle your child's developmental differences. Your child will learn, grow, and thrive with the appropriate intervention plan and your love and support.
